Lake Oberon or Oberon Dam is regularly stocked
with brown and rainbow trout and can be fished throughout the
year
from
the water's edge. Boating and swimming are prohibited without
special permission. Most streams contain trout and are stocked
with trout fingerlings periodically.
Access points exist to Lake Oberon and local streams, but permission
must be sought from the owner if water is on private property.
The two fishing spots suggested for visitors to the Lake are:
Kelly's Bay (and nearby Racecourse Creek) and the Oberon Dam
Picnic Area.
Fishing in streams is permitted from the Friday
before the long weekend in October and the Monday nearest the
1st June.
All anglers must have
a Freshwater Fishing License. This can be obtained from the
Shell Garage, Arrows Newsagency and the Royal Hotel.
The Oberon
Visitor Centre can provide more detailed information on where
to fish and how to access rivers and streams.
